Create Sacred Space
Create Sacred Space, this is where everything begins. This is the foundation. We often feel contracted inside, we feel resistance. The obstacle is the way it's the path towards personal growth. Maybe you're a person who believes that there is something wonderful, a gift waiting for you when you're willing to have the courage to take that path.
The three things that can often show up when we know we're ready for a big transformation is number one, all of those old patterns and limiting beliefs are going to come to the surface. Some of self negative talk beliefs get in the way. The second thing that can show up is that we start to experience self doubt. Once we get through the limiting beliefs or the negative self-talk and we realize that that's just a story in our mind, then we begin to expand again. Then the self doubt comes in, really wondering if we made the right decision. So that self doubt starts to sink in and then once you move through the self doubt and you say yes to something, an opportunity to grow or expand. The third thing that happens is procrastination. Procrastination because there's a part of your energy, body and your higher self that knows what you're about to step into. Our lovely little ego likes to come in and keep us small and remind us of why we haven't made this choice before. Limiting beliefs, self doubt and then procrastination.
Once you're able to get through that and you're willing to commit to yourself and you are committed with intention, then you can begin to flow into this new experience.
The two biggest blocks that usually keep us from investing in yourself, being healthy, food, and exercise. How to live with intentional well being on a spiritual path, our time and money. If you want to know if you're living in alignment with your core values, check your schedule and your credit card because that will show you. Why do we want to create an intention around creating sacred space in our lives?
Number one, when we let go of old energy and old patterns and beliefs, it creates space for something new. You can't put water in a cup that's already full. We have to dump it out and start over. Number two, creating sacred space is really about being in the present moment, being in alignment with our truth, which leads us into clarity on our why. Why are we committed to what we said yes to, and remembering those three questions before we commit to something or say yes to something. Is this in alignment with my core values? Is it the right time? Number three, does it have to be me or can I seek support?
We create sacred space so that we can welcome new energy as we evolve in our lives. You have to let go of an old relationship before you can welcome in a new partner. We need to let go of old patterns and limiting beliefs before we can create new empowering beliefs. Another reason it's important to create sacred space is that it creates the framework for your intentions.
Creating sacred space helps us to understand our beliefs around time and energy. Time is energy, money is energy. Relationships are energy. Food is energy. We may want energy for our well being. We may want financial energy to purchase something, to live, to survive, to buy food. Energy can show up in many ways, and each of us have a different belief around time and energy. Being too busy means that you're misaligned. It's really about the choice you're making. When you're saying that you don't have the time, what you're really saying is that it's not a priority to you. Just say right now, it's not a priority to me. Everybody has the same 24 hours in a day, when you say, I don't have the energy to do something, what you're saying is, I'm misaligned. I'm not choosing to use my energy in alignment. You may be giving in one area too much, or maybe you're not receiving. You're not nurturing, you're not nourishing, you're not receiving love, you're not receiving compliments, you're not receiving healthy food. So it's a check around your beliefs, around time and energy. It helps us to create a healthy mindset to cultivate and commit to change in our life through inspired action steps, which takes us beyond the vision board.
Vision boards are great for dreaming about everything that we want and creating inspired action steps. To go beyond the vision board, it's in the power of the mind and feeling the experience. Being in alignment, living in alignment with the truth that you want to call in. And then, the bow on the package is that there's so much value for your self worth through self reflection and just being really clear on how we're showing up. That's the why we want to create sacred space before we can welcome in or call in something in our life that we want. Maybe you want to call in your life partner. You want to call in more financial abundance. You want to call in physical healing. You want to call in a mentor or a teacher.
These are some steps that will help you get there:
Identifying your beliefs around time and energy. Just getting really clear about what your beliefs are. What are your beliefs around time and energy? Is there enough? Are you too tired? Do you feel overwhelmed? Do you have low energy? Do you have a ton of energy? What feeling or emotion do you believe is getting in the way with how you want to feel about yourself in your life? Because emotions are energy too.
Identifying energy drains. This is huge. Energy drains are tasks that we sometimes believe are keeping us from getting in the way of achieving the goals that we want. An energy drain isn't necessarily a negative context. It's just an awareness of where our energy goes. So in other words, it can be energetically draining to be a parent sometimes. That's not necessarily a negative thing, but the awareness is in how we choose to show up in that relationship. Identifying energy drains and a good exercise to do this is called an energy drain or brain dump exercise. What that looks like is taking a moment to, or maybe 15 minutes to write out everything on your to do list, everything you think you have to do, like ever. I do this maybe a couple of times a year, listing out everything you have to do. Then you go through the list and you label urgent versus important or both. So some of you might be familiar with Stephen Covey’s Seven Habits of Highly Effective People. This is one of the tools that he talked about, in time management in his book Labeling Urgent versus Important.
Go through your list and notice what of the items are connected to aligned with your values or your goals in discovering why you're deciding to do something. When you go through that list and ask yourself the questions, is this in alignment with me? Is it the right time? Do I have to be the person to do it? This is where you get to delegate. So do you have to do this task or can you delegate and ask for support? Tasks are like a one time thing. Projects are bigger than include multiple tasks. It's a really wonderful exercise to do and it just feels really good to kind of clear that energy and just do the braindump, do the energy dump and get super clear on what really needs to get done. Sometimes if a person's feeling overwhelmed or stressed, it's because they're trying to hold onto all these things that they have to do. They might not be really good at asking for help, and they may not even know exactly everything they have to do because maybe they have ten different post it notes, but they don't really have a system or a way of organizing what it is they think they have to get done.
The brain dump is a wonderful exercise and if you're in a place where you want to create change in your life, then you need to get really clear about the level of commitment that you're willing to make. Get super clear on how much time you're willing to commit to yourself every week if you have an intention for a goal in mind that you want to create. Getting super clear on what your identities or roles are in your life. Getting super clear about what your different identities are and then creating a weekly task for each of those roles and noticing which of those roles are you creating a lot of tasks for? Are they out of balance? Are they in balance? Self care? That should probably be an identity or role separate from self. There definitely needs to be, I think, an entity for your commitment to your well being. Getting super clear about how you show up in the different areas of your life, creating a task for those and then time blocking. It's just a really great way to be able to fully commit and break that pattern of procrastination, break that pattern of feeling stuck and step into empowerment by creating clarity through a set of intentional tasks so that you can move forward and create what you want in your life.
